Overview

Meet Joseph Thampan, a visionary leader with a high level of experience in two diverse industries, Hospitality and Construction. After nurturing aspirations of becoming an air force pilot during his military academy days, he embraced an alternate trajectory in Hotel Management. Starting in India with Kaynes Hotels, his journey traversed teaching and exploration across countries such as Turkey, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Austria, the UAE, and Oman, honing his hospitality and training acumen. 

Accredited as a renowned trainer and Lotscoach(R), his transition into construction after a hotel project cancellation showcased his resilience. Joseph’s leadership was illuminated as he steered multifaceted projects, collaborating with architectural and technical teams to forge innovative solutions. Central to his triumphs is a philosophy of assuming complete responsibility for actions and embracing challenges. His meticulous attention to detail and prowess in implementation, coupled with his fusion of hospitality and construction knowledge, rendered him indispensable in project management. 

Experience in Construction 

Al Adrak Trading & Contracting Co., LLC, Oman, General Manager, December 2007 – June 2023. As General Manager, adeptly overseeing operations across Oman, the UAE, and India. Instrumental in founding and managing diverse divisions encompassing Facility Management Services, Post Tensioning, Natural Stone Processing, Aluminum & Structural Glazing, Joinery & Carpentry, Rebar Cut & Bend, Structural & Specialised Fabrication, and Specialised Waterproofing. He was also leading the procurement team right from the inception to the operations phases, thus gaining a high level of knowledge in the domain.

  • Championed the inception of the Real Estate Vertical and played a pivotal role in executing Oman’s pioneering PPP Housing Project.
  • Successfully negotiated the contract with Marriott, expertly managed the EPC contract for Aloft Muscat, set up the pre opening team, and handed it over to Marriott for Management.
  • Pioneered the establishment of a COVID Testing facility at Muscat International Airport in a remarkable 15 days, with a capacity exceeding 6,000 tests per day.

Experience in Hospitality

Radisson Blu Hotel, Muscat, Training and Quality Performance Manager, May 2000 – Dec 2007. Starting off as a commis in the kitchen, ascending to Food and Beverage (F&B) management, and specialised in Meetings and Events. Transitioned to HR and Training, assuming the role of a Master Trainer for On-the-job Skills and Customer Service delivery. He served as a Master Trainer for On job skills across multiple Middle Eastern hotels and embarked as a Task Force Trainer, delivering specialised training support to regional hotels.
